Additional information you should know:

• Wood is a natural material that expands and contracts depending on weather conditions. Large and small cracks, color variations, and structural changes in the wood are not defects but natural characteristics of the material. Untreated wood (except for foundation beams) will turn gray over time, may develop blue stains, or even mold. To protect the wooden components of your garden house, they must be treated with a wood preservative immediately after assembly. A good foundation is crucial for the durability and safety of your garden house. Only a perfectly level, square, and load-bearing foundation ensures easy installation, stability, and proper door fitting. A well-built foundation significantly extends the lifespan of your house. The foundation should extend at least 50 mm above ground level. Ensure that sufficient ventilation openings are left beneath the floor for air circulation. It is advisable to place a moisture barrier between the foundation and the base frame beams to protect the house from moisture and decay. To prevent wind and storm damage, secure the base frame beams to the foundation. For doors and windows, always check their opening direction. Doors always open outward from the inside. Tilt-and-turn windows open inward, while pivot and casement windows open outward (window handles are inside). Do not press the roof boards too tightly together to prevent warping due to moisture changes. Leave approximately a 1 mm gap between boards for expansion. Roofing felt has a relatively short lifespan. We recommend covering the roof with bitumen shingles or Icopal shingles, which also enhance the house’s appearance. Follow the material manufacturer’s instructions and consult a professional if needed. Depending on the climate in which the house is installed, floorboards may expand or contract. If the boards are very dry but the climate is humid, they will absorb moisture. In this case, do not install them too tightly together to prevent buckling. Leave a 1-2 mm gap between floorboards for expansion. In hot and dry climates, the boards can be placed tightly together, as they will dry further, possibly creating gaps. Ensure that the storm battens are attached at the top to the ridge beam and at the bottom to the center of the first full-length wall element. If necessary, shorten the battens at the top. Bolts should not be tightened too much to allow the wood to continue expanding and contracting. As the house settles, adjustments must be made to the fastenings to allow wall elements to move downward as needed.
